16.11.25 - update

So I was planning to get more of a balance between 'posting daily for something to do' (closer to covering all the random crap I would put on fb, but also one more daily Thing) and 'only posting whenever something Happens'.

At the minute I seem to have left it long enough that this feels like a big catch up and I don't know where to start.

I'm considering making a new fb, if only to get in touch with various people to let them know where to find me, raise a bunch of complaints with fb and then probably get myself in trouble again. But the plan is to write more stuff like this and keep updating elsewhere more. Fb can just be for emergency contact. And shitposting groups. And cats. Back to basics.

So, what's been up with Ruth? I ask myself that question and nothing springs to mind except the usual 'work, ferrets, reading, sleeping'... I have to go through my camera to jog my memory on the specifics.

As a surprise to absolutely no one - i bought a book! It will be added to The Pile.

I'm still making my way through the Gielgud biography (it's very thorough and though I do find theatre stuff interesting and charming, it's a lot to get through).

Also been reading some of this:

Issue 2 has arrived now, so I thought I should get on with the first one. I don't understand poetry much but I'm enjoying this so far.

Also just finished this last night, still gathering my thoughts about it and wondering if I should write something. I may leave it until after our LGBTQ+ book group has discussed it next week. There's a lot of metaphorical stuff in this one so I think we'll have lots to talk about.

Music-wise I've been listening to this monster playlist, not all of it, just songs here and there to decide what to put on ANOTHER playlist or two. This ones gets me thinking about the bizarre concept of 'oldies' because for a lot of people,  that probably means 60s,70s, 80s... (hell, for kids now 2010s is probably 'oldies'). But for me that's just too much of the music I listen to to constitute a category, so my oldies list is 30s/40s at the latest. So a lot of the stuff on this list is from that middle ground between jazz and rock.

Latest from the shops- I don't know what 'new York escape' is meant to be, apart from (apparently)...pomegranate?

Spotted the above at the honesty library,  and the below in Asda

Every child's favourite pizza topping- olives

Also, you know I thought fb ads were creepy, with their 'romance' books and games. Turns out tumblr is just as bad, if not worse.

Ah, romance

But mostly it's just AI wolf porn

That's 50 men KILLED in one night, btw

Ok. Let's have a ferret-based palate cleanser from the filth

Sorry! It's more filth

Got some very, very cute things from the Tiny Hug Club subscription

And speaking of cute, we took Precious out to lunch yesterday

Then she came back to ours for nap time

And I think that's about it for now.
I've just caved and made a new fb and will spend a bit of time in the initial stage of 'get back in touch with people and not get myself in trouble. Soon to be followed by 'let people know what happened and where else they can find me'.
Then I'm sticking to following shitposting groups and cats.

Ok here's some more ferrets. Until next time.

8.11.25 - Shop sights

Some people probably view this as one of the worst bits of social media (along with food pictures) but apparently people on fb used to like seeing the random tat I spot at the shops, so here we go.

Sadly it's Morrisons and not charity shops, which are obviously the superior tat-spotting environment.

Anyway, tis the season

First a nice, seasonal post box

Look at his lil antlers

Part of the reason I would put this stuff on fb rather than on other social media, is because on Instagram or something it would come off as 'lol at this stuff, here's where to find it!' And if I'm just showing this to people I know (in theory) then it feels less like advertising. But then I'm pretty sure that's how temu etc works anyway, advertise weird shit and have people take screenshots.

I can't exactly articulate it, but there's something not right about these ponies with pink blobs on their foreheads.

I'm not sure I want him guiding the sleigh

Other ridiculous sweet things:

They are scented! I had a teddy bear with a scented paw when I was little with the same smell. I called her Sarah Jane because it was the prettiest name I could imagine at the time.

Someone tell me I don't need one of these things

I don't want to go all 'toys these days are weird' because i grew up in the 80's and 90's, I can't judge.

But this appears to be some sort of bug (crustacean?) With a can of probiotic drink

The magic of childhood

A much more sensible choice is the tea-drinking cow

Or...Salami

Also found these in the dvd section

Anyway, that's today's episode of Ruth's exciting life.

Oh, and yeah. Have a ferret picture
